The Italian Lymphoma Foundation carries out its activities through the coordinated work of the following bodies.
The Assembly of Elector Founders is the body responsible for deliberating on the key decisions of the Foundation and ensuring the achievement of its objectives.
An Elector Founder is the representative of each individual onco-hematology hospital, typically the Director of the center or a delegated representative, who has actively contributed to FIL’s research activities in accordance with the provisions of the Statute.
The Assembly of Elector Founders elects the members of the Steering Committee every three years, appoints the Auditor, approves the annual budget and financial statements, provides opinions when requested by the Steering Committee, and deliberates on amendments to the Statute. When necessary, it also decides on the dissolution of the Foundation and the allocation of its assets within its remit.
The Steering Committee is responsible for defining the Foundation’s development strategy and future projects. It sets priorities, approves project proposals already evaluated by the Scientific Committees, and oversees administration and management in accordance with principles of financial sustainability, efficiency, and effectiveness, in line with the annual budget approved by the Assembly of Elector Founders.
The Steering Committee appoints the members of the Presidency Office and designates the Coordinators of the Scientific Committees.
The Steering Committee is composed of 15 members (including the President and the Past President), with the possibility of co-opting up to 5 additional experts. All members have the right to vote and express their opinions during meetings.

The President of the Steering Committee is the legal representative of the Foundation. The President manages relations with institutions, public and private entities, and other organizations, with the aim of establishing collaborative partnerships.
The term of office lasts three years, and the President is not eligible for re-election. At the end of the term, they remain a member of the Steering Committee for the following three years as Past President.
The current President for the 2024–2026 term is Prof. Marco Ladetto, Associate Professor at the Department of Translational Medicine of the University of Eastern Piedmont and Director of the Hematology Unit at AOU SS Antonio e Biagio e Cesare Arrigo in Alessandria.
The Vice President is appointed by the Steering Committee. The term of office lasts three years.
The Vice President supports the President and replaces them in case of absence or impediment. At the end of the President’s term, the Vice President assumes the role of President for the following three years.
The current Vice President is Prof. Carlo Visco, Hematologist at the Azienda Integrata Ospedaliera Universitaria di Verona.
The Treasurer is appointed by the Steering Committee from among its members. The term of office lasts three years and may be renewed once.
The Treasurer is a member of the Presidency Office and is responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s financial management and sustainability.
The current Treasurer is Dr. Chiara Rusconi, Hematologist at ASST Melegnano Martesana.
The Presidency Office guides and oversees the Foundation’s scientific activities and financial management, in line with the directives of the Steering Committee, while supporting the President in all their functions.
It is composed of the President, the Vice President, the Treasurer, and two additional members of the Steering Committee, selected by the President and entrusted with specific responsibilities.
The current Presidency Office for 2024–2026 is:

At the end of their term, the President remains a member of the Steering Committee for the following three years as Past President. After this period, they are not eligible for election as Vice President.

The Secretary is appointed by the Steering Committee from among its members. The term of office lasts three years and may be renewed.
The current Secretary is Dr. Guido Gini, Hematologist at Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Ospedali Riuniti di Ancona.
The Auditor is responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s financial management, accounting records, and cash flows. They review the financial statements and prepare the relevant reports.
The term of office lasts three years and may be renewed.
The current Auditor is Dr. Marco Estienne, financial advisor.
The Assembly of Elector Founders may appoint Honorary Presidents among researchers or clinicians who have made a significant contribution to lymphoma research and/or to the development of the Foundation.
They are members of both the Assembly of Elector Founders and the Steering Committee, without voting rights.
In April 2021, the Honorary President, Prof. Luigi Resegotti, passed away.

The Young Researchers Representative is Dr. Vittoria Tarantino, Hematologist at A.O. Ospedali Riuniti Villa Sofia-Cervello – Hematology Division, Palermo.
Fondazione Italiana Linfomi – ETS carries out activities related to the promotion of studies and research in the field of lymphomas and other lymphoproliferative diseases, supporting healthcare institutions with the aim of improving patient care, enhancing the humanization of care, and developing training and health education programs.
As these activities involve large-scale processing of special categories of personal data pursuant to Article 9 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), the Foundation is required to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO) in accordance with Article 37 of the GDPR.
