{"id":6911,"date":"2018-08-06T11:07:06","date_gmt":"2018-08-06T09:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/filinf.it\/?page_id=6911"},"modified":"2021-08-03T16:11:25","modified_gmt":"2021-08-03T14:11:25","slug":"fertility-and-lymphoma","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/filinf.it\/en\/about-limphomas\/fertility-and-lymphoma\/","title":{"rendered":"Fertility and Lymphoma"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Preserve female fertility in view of the therapy<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Currently practiced strategies to preserve female fertility in view of chemotherapy treatment are:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5416 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/filinf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/woman.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"196\" height=\"251\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Ovarian protection through drugs similar to the gonadotrophin-releasing hormone <\/strong>(GnRH): this strategy brings fertile women to an ovarian stage similar to that preceding puberty. The analogue or antagonist to GnRH are used for various diseases: these have the effect of completely putting the ovary to rest, by suppressing the ovulation and all that goes with it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Freeze egg cells<\/strong>: this represents an important strategy for the preservation of fertility and it can be recommended to all patients who can postpone the chemotherapy treatment by 2 to 3 weeks and who have a suitable ovarian reserve.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Freeze ovarian tissue: <\/strong>through a minor laparoscopic operation, fragments of ovarian cortical are removed and frozen. This operation is carried out before the exposure to gonadotoxic agents. Following remission, the auto-transplantation of the ovarian cortical is carried out to reactivate the reproductive capacity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ovarian transposition<\/strong>: this strategy can be used whenever radiotherapy treatment is focused on the ovarian area. It consists in a temporary \u201crelocation\u201d of ovaries in a different area. The success of this technique is quite high.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Preserve male fertility in view of the therapy<\/h2>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5417 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/filinf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/man.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"203\" height=\"263\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Cryopreservation of sperm<\/strong>: a simple and efficient technique. It consists in the preservation of sperm in liquid nitrogen at -196\u00b0. This technique cannot be used with children and in those cases in which the disease is at a very advanced stage. It foresees an insemination in vitro of the preserved semen in a second moment.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Cryopreservation of testicular tissue:<\/strong> it is possible both with children as well as with patients with low sperm count.
